Wasn’t "Apocalypse Now" the best film of that time - or perhaps that was a 80’s film. It was an asskicker.
I was going to say - "In the Heat of the Night" with Rod Steiger - but that’s a 60’s film….
"Deliverance"???
In your list, the most really remarkable film was "The Outlaw Josey Wales". I’ve seen that thing a couple times - and it’s one of those perfectly made films - "Little Big Man" was another of these, but that might have been an 80’s film.

aahhh…the 70s…before VHS and multi-plexes, when people used to wait in line to see the lastest release….now a movie comes out on DVD with bonus features and the "movie" is a remake of a previous classic?
